Wigginsia
This species, reported by Carolo Spegazzini in its publication "Cactacearum Platensium Tentamen" of 1905, as a variety of Echinocactus acuatus, has the characteristic of remaining level the ground surface, without rising. It has large number of ribs and lacks spines per areole. Live in areas of silt pampas, near the River Uruguay, on land usually flooded.
